SMNHS Gets 1K

     Sta. Maria National High School executes Brigada Eskwela for the start of school year 2019-2020.

     SMNHS held its back-to-school program on May 20-25, 2019, in the main campus' school ground of junior high school department.

     During the brigada eskwela many parents participated in making the school and the classroom clean and comfortable for the students.

   At this time the school started listing the enrollees for s.y. 19-20, shockingly the number of students enrolled in SMNHS reached up to 1516 students from SMNHS JHS.

     There are a total of 438 students from Grade 7, 241 male students and 197 female students. The total student count of Grade 7 students remains the number 1 among the other grades.

     While the Grade 8 students has 381 students, 202 male students and 179 female students. With this students, there are 6 sections all in all to provide comfort to students.

     In Grade 9 there are 375 students, there are 167 males and 208 females. Just like Grade 7 and 8 there are 6 sections from this grade.

     Grade 10 has the smallest population, with a count of 322 students, 134 male students and 188 female students. Not like the other grades, this grade has only 5 sections because of its population.

     The population of SMNHS is extremely high, it shock other schools for having a population like this. The perseverance of the faculty and staffs of this school makes it the school with the biggest population in Ifugao.

Sta. Maria National High School

Many schools are available for students but mostly students select those schools near their houses or addresses. Schools near a community is very convenient for students. It encourages students to study better because of the distance from their houses to the school.

Sta. Maria National High School is near a rural community. It is located in the boundary of Brgy. Dolowog, town of Alfonso Lista, Province of Ifugao, Region of CAR and the poblacion of Alfonso Lista which is Sta. Maria, Alfonso Lista. SMNHS is founded way back 1968. Just like other schools it was given other names for perfection. It was first named Sta. Maria Barrio High School. Then it was named as Potia Community High School, Potia Barangay High School-Potia is the former name of Alfonso Lista, and then it was named Sta. Maria National High School as it is known to this day. 

This high school is the biggest school in Ifugao. With a student count of 2,263, including 747 students in senior high school, 1031 students in junior high school-main campus, and 485 junior high school students of SMNHS Extension for S.Y. 2019-2020. SMNHS is a successful school for they have excelled in different school activities such as Schools Press Conference, Science and Math Quizzes, MTAP competitions, sports and the likes. Students of SMNHS are very competitive in academics. Many honor students of the school can keep up with other students in urban regions such as NCR. The graduates enroll in some prestigious universities in Metro Manila to study for senior high school and college.

In February, 2019 SMNHS celebrated its 50th anniversary. SMNHS changed students lives for better future. The heritage and the learning from this school will always be in the public's hearts.

They learn about computers in their class, this includes viruses and worms, how to operate adobe photo shop and the likes. She is interested in arts but is not good in drawing. She's a top student in their school. Her favorite subject is mathematics and always being contested in Math Quizzes. In college she wants to study in a prestigious university in Manila.
